Portimao - Portugal

Race resume

Yari Montella (Italy, 21 years old) joins the GMT94 team for the Portimao (Portugal) race, which takes place from 1st to 3rd October 2021. Yari is the 2020 European Moto2 Champion, and was competing in the 2021 Moto2 World Championship. He will be riding in place of Valentin Debise, who is still recovering from his crash in Magny-Cours. The doctor has recommended an additional ten days of recovery. Valentin will be in Argentina.

Yari knows the Portimao circuit well, and will share the pit box with Jules Cluzel. The team is ready to start this last European weekend before two races in South America and Asia.

Like in Jerez, GMT94 and Jules Cluzel did one their best weekend in Portimao, fighting for victory with Andrea Locatelli. The team has some good data.

Yari Montella: “I would like to thank GRD and the GMT94 team for the opportunity given to me. I want to thank them by giving it my best. I know that I will enter a world championship where I will have to learn the secrets of Supersport, the Yamaha R6, the Pirelli tyres and my opponents. So it will be even more exciting to work with the team, for an event that will give me and my future some fresh air.

See you this Friday at 11.30am for the start of FP1, broadcast live on www.worldsbk.com.
